Yonex ZR 100 Light

The ZR 100 Light is Yonex's other entry-level aluminium racket, sitting alongside the GR 303i at the bottom of the range. Like the GR 303i it pairs an aluminium head with a steel shaft rather than graphite - this is a casual racket, not a performance one.

Where the GR 303i runs even balance, the ZR 100 Light is head heavy, so a little more weight sits out toward the head and clears and smashes get some help even from a slow swing. The stiff shaft doesn't add power of its own, so what you put into the swing is mostly what you get out. String tension tops out at 24 lbs - still low next to any graphite frame, but slightly more headroom than the GR 303i, because this aluminium build handles a touch more tension before it risks warping.

Good for first-time and social players who want an affordable, genuine Yonex racket and don't yet know if they'll stick with the sport. Not for anyone who's decided they want to improve - a graphite frame like the Astrox 01 Clear or Arcsaber 2 Clear will respond to better technique in a way this one can't.
