Yonex Astrox 99 Play (3rd Gen)

This is the current generation of our Astrox 99 Play, Yonex's 3rd generation update to the accessible entry point in the 99 line. We also stock the previous-generation Astrox 99 Play at a lower price if the update isn't a priority for you.

The numbers haven't moved much generation to generation: still 4U, still a medium flex shaft, still head-heavy, still rated to the same 20-28 lb tension range. What's changed is how the weight is distributed. The updated Rotational Generator System spreads mass across the grip end, frame top and joint, and a new Power-Assist Bumper puts slightly more of it at the head, so the racket transitions out of defence into an attacking swing more smoothly. Head-heavy balance still means the mass sits out in front of your hand doing the work on a smash, and the medium flex still means you don't need a fast, technical swing to load the shaft.

Best for beginner and improving intermediate players who want to build an attacking game without a stiff, tour-level shaft to fight against. If you're already generating your own power and want more feedback under a hard swing, look at the Astrox 99 Game or Tour instead.
